Sustainable EMS Technologies

With you for the long haul

We are inspired by the possibilities of greening EMS fleets to lessen our collective impact on the environment. That’s why we are committed to being on the leading edge of green and sustainable vehicle technologies and incorporating these innovations into the products and solutions that we offer.

Emission Management

Anti-Idle

Anti-idle technology reduces the amount of time an engine idles. The Rowland Emergency anti-idle system is a cost-effective device designed to reduce fuel expense and carbon emissions in Emergency Response Vehicles through active monitoring of both battery capacity and vehicle ambient temperature.

Our anti-idle device is a computerized monitoring system that interfaces directly with the vehicle’s battery and engine system. When a vehicle is placed in park, a computer actively monitors the vehicle’s cabin temperature and battery voltage. If the temperature and voltage are within the pre-set optimal ranges, the vehicle’s engine will turn off. After the engine has turned off, the computer continues its system monitoring, and once the temperature or voltage falls outside of the optimal range, the vehicle’s engine will turn on until the vehicle is restored to the optimal range.

Benefits

  • Reduce annual fuel expense
  • Reduce in CO2 emissions
  • Reduce engine wear
  • Fewer fill-ups (productivity savings)
  • Individual vehicle statistic reports for reduction in idle time and diagnostic information
  • Customizable to configure the vehicle’s cabin temperature settings

Solar Power

Solar panels on an ambulance fleet is an innovative and cost-effective approach to using solar energy to supplement the electrical needs of ambulances. Solar panels can successfully charge the emergency vehicle’s secondary battery which powers on-board equipment such as defibrillators, satellite navigation systems and communication devices, thereby reducing shoreline charging and ensuring your fleet is always powered up and ready to go.

Features & Benefits

  • ThermoLite solar panels are specifically created for your temperature-controlled emergency vehicles
  • Developed using the latest technology to produce abundant power that extends battery life
  • Prevents costly jump starts Ideal for long-term battery maintenance and support of parasitic loads (AVL & radio)
  • High-efficiency solar cells produce abundant power, even in low light conditions to power and recharge critical on-board medical equipment
  • Chemical cleaning and pressure wash compatible
